SECULARISM HAS NO RELIGION

The article forces me to recall a real life story which my father used to tell me. I hope this will help people broaden their outlook towards the religion.

A Mosque was being built just opposite to my father’s residence in the small town he was living. There were about twenty laborers working in two shifts in order to complete it as early as possible. However one of those laborers was perhaps more needy as he was camping near the site itself and was continuously working in both the shifts. Since he was always around, my father recognised him very well. One day when my father had gone to a nearby temple for prayer, he found that laborer there who had also come to offer prayers. My father asked him whether he was a Hindu the answer of which was yes. My father further asked with astonishment that if there was any other Hindu laborer working in that Mosque. And the answer changed my father’s perception towards the religion. The laborer said, “We all are building the house of God who nobody knows is a Hindu or Muslim. Even when we build a house for a common man we do not bother to know whether a Hindu or a Muslim is going to live in it, so what is the need to know about God? On further asking that why does he work overtime, he said, “I work in first shift to earn livelihood for my family, and do the second shift free of charge as my offering to God”.

My father saluted the pious soul and never forgot him. Let’s hope no one of us either would forget this story as this is not merely a story it is like a lighthouse, capable of bringing distracted minds top right path.
