On 27th Aug, 06, while watching the T.V., I heard the news that under the Act1956, Child labour is illegal. Govt says that if anyone is found doing work in tea Shops, dhaba’s etc. then that person will be punished.
After hearing this, I felt that it was really an irony of the life that on one side we say that working of these little one in houses, shops etc. is illegal & we make rules to stop them working in these areas & named it as “Child Labour” , but on the other side we don’t say even a single word against those high class families whose children work & play in advertisements & T.V. programmes. Think, What a Little one of 6-7 months feels when the camera is watching him/her all the time. Can you imagine what a child of 10-12 years feels when he/she performs his/her role in the movies like “VASTU-SHASTRA” , “SIXTH-SENSE” & Many more. What impression he/she has on his/her mind while performing different shots so many times.
According to the books written on the Baby’s health & development it is clearly mentioned that after 6 months, a child can sense cues from his environment.Considering this, what impact does such performances have on the psyche of the little ones. But we keep on criticsing only poor people whose children work because they need the money . Seeing this scenario I was totally confused to decide who is actually persuing child labour we people or the people from lower income groups.
