OBESITY IN KIDS-A MATER TO CONCERN

As more & more technical developments are going on,more & more lazy we all are becoming.We all are mostly loosing our physical fitness.Kids,even are affected to a great extent with today’s so-caled technology advancement.We all observe that,kids today are spending more & more time in front of tv or computer screens,as a result their physical activities & movements are decreasing day by day.This all is leading to a global epidemic known as –Obesity in kids.This all has been due to couch potato lifestyle alongwith wrong dietry practices.Today everybody,especially the kids are mostly being surrounded by Obesity enhancing environment.As a result they are always at a risk of becoming over weight.Lack of playing in the playgrounds,streets,etc. and increasing popularity of the so-called fast/junk foods have embedded the obesity syndrome in small kids.Overweight or obese kids are more likely to be grown up into overweight or bulky adults.Obesity ,in itself is a curse.Overweight people are always at a risk of serious diseases such as cardiovascular diseases(heart related),some cancers & diabetes etc.Obesity in kids is becoming global day by day.According to a research survey 20% of Australian kids are overweight.In China ,1 out of 10 kids is believed to be obese.In India too kid obesity is showing its presence.In Chile, about 30% kids are obese.(Sources:FAO,WHO,Australian associated Press).Kids today preffer to eat noodles ,pizza,burger,French fries etc.which are all a great source of fat.
More & more advertisements of junk foods,cold drinks etc.are also having their affect onkids today.But,this all can be checked or controlled.Parents or adults can play a major role in shaping attitude of kids.As kids are very innocent they follow what they observe.So.it is our duty to sereiuosly think over it & develop healthy habbits in ourselves ,if we want our kids to be healthy & disease free.
We must encourage kids to eat well balanced diet,making a limit on their tv/computers and above all making daily exercise a routine habbit.Only serious concrn over this issue can help our kids/our future to be perfect in health.
