‘WHAT HURTS ONE MOST’

Although I have learnt from life that every two human beings are different in the world and hence carry an entirely ‘Different Way of Looking Things’ from their own perspective. But this is also true that since we are all made of similar ‘Blood & Flesh’ our Happiness and Sorrows too are driven by similar forces and reasons.

After much self-deliberations, first-hand experiences, and informal chit-chat among friends & relations I could be able to reach a conclusion as to what are such instances and causes that hurt every rational person the most, irrespective of his age, status, and surroundings.

I have tabulated them in a chronological order as per their occurrences, and am sure that ninety nine person of the readers would agree with me and rest 1% who do not agree are those who either befool themselves for all through their lives or are the culprit of causing these injuries to others:-

1. You Are Compared With Siblings – This is the first step, which starts from the childhood of a person and unfortunately is caused by the parents themselves. Though the resistance does not come out full-blown from child’s end, it leaves a very destructive impact that acts as a negative force inside him and affects his entire life.

“Haalat Yeh Ki Eent Ka Patthar Se Doon Jawaab,
Ehsaas Yeh Ki Apnen Buzurgon Ko Kya Kahoon.”

2. Your Valid Pleadings Go Unheard - This is nothing but the sequel of above which adds insult to the injury that becomes incurable and turns into Gangrene, but by the time parents realize their mistake, it becomes too late.

“Jurrat Kahan Keh Pooch Saken Baaghbaan Se Hum,
Kis Jurm Par Nikale Gaye Gulistaan Se Hum.”

3. You Are Not Believed - When you are absolutely sure that whatever you are saying is coming out of the bottom of your heart, you are tagged as ‘Liar’ deliberately, and you cannot contest it either because you lag behind in some way, the person you are dealing with.

“Aaina Todne Wale Yeh Tujhe Dhyan Rahe,
Aks Bant Jayega Tera Bhi Kai Hisson Mein.”

4. Your Concerns Are Treated As Fake. - From the very moment you start cursing the ‘Almighty’ why the hell HE sent you on this earth, because this world does not remain a worthwhile place to live in then as it loses the meanings of mankind.

“Iski Kirchon Se Na Jaane Kitne Ghayal Ho Yahan,
Tu Isse Na Chhed Meri Khamoshi Sheeshey Ki Hai.”

5. You Are Used Like A Ladder - When somebody excels at the cost of you and reaches the top by keeping foot on your head.

“Khud Loot Liya Kaafila Apna Hi Jinhonein,
Aise Hi Hamein Qafila Salar Mile Hain.”

6. You Are Outsmarted By Flatterers - At work-place in spite of being one of the best and most dedicated workers you are superseded by people who do everything but sweat. It becomes more painful when the superiors too get befooled by them and see you low on their behest.

“Woh Shakhs Ke Qad Jiska Mere Qad Se Bada Thha,
Dekha To Kisi Aur Key Pairon Pe Khada Thha.”

7. You Are Made To Realize Your Status - To me it is the most painful feeling for the bread-earner of the family when he is realized of his being lagging-behind in the race of material possessions of life. There cannot be more painful moment for a parent when his kids are treated differently than others just because of their father’s status. Besides, if you do not own a vehicle or an electronic gadget, if your kids or spouse are cautioned to close the door of the car gently or operate the gadget properly, you feel like committing suicide instantly as a feeling of worthlessness erupts in you.

“Sawaal Yeh Nahin Sheesha Bacha Ke Toot Gaya,
Taqleef Yeh Hai Ke Pathhar Woh Aaya Thha Apnon Se.”

8. You Are Labeled as Male-Chauvinist - You think that you have been fairly democrat in your ‘Marital-Life’, but due to one single and valid ‘NO’ you are labeled as Male-Chauvinist by your spouse even after spending more than a decade together.

“Bebas Ka Ik Lakeer Langhna Bhi Hai Gunaah,
Yun Toh Samundaron Ko Yahan Langhtey Hain Log.

9. You Are Forgotten On Big Days - When your and your family’s big-days are forgotten or ignored in spite of the fact that you behave in entirely opposite way.

“Sunayen Haal-E-Dil Kis Ko Karen Kis Pe Bharosa Hum,
Jise Apna Samajhte Hain Who Begana Nikalta Hai.”

10. You Are Dumped By Your Most Loved Ones - For whom you kept even your prestige at stake in the society. But you cannot retaliate because you carry a hard-coded heart and brain which do not change as per your convenience.

“Shikast Kha Ke Mohabbat Mein Yun Udaas Na Ho,
Yeh Haar Jeet Se Behtar Hain Haarne Waaley.”

11. You Are Labeled As Reprobate - Whereas the reality is that you think from heart and not brain. And that is why instead of running after Material Gains you prefer to accumulate the wealth of love and affection.

“Hamesha Buzdilon Par Hi Sitarey Raaj Karte Hain,
Bahadur Faisle Taqdeer Par Chhoda Nahin Karte.”

12. You Are Made A Scapegoat - Every time on the pretext of ‘The No Other Option’.

“Jali Hain Aag Mein Jab Jab Bhi Shahar Ki Sadken,
Mere Hi Paon Key Chhalon Ney Tab Namin Ki Hai.”

13. Your Neighbours Outcast You - Although you pursue ‘Love Thy Neighbours’ theory, you are not submissive kinds and hence do not follow the diktats of anybody. This results in their distancing from you, which runs through generations afterwards.

“Shahar Mein Wo Motabir Meri Gawahi Se Hua,
Phir Mujhe Iss Shahar Mein Be-Motabir Usne Kiya.”

14. Your Children Ridicule Your Lifestyle - You live your entire life to the best of your belief and according to your own philosophy of life and one day your adolescent kid says that he does not like the way you are.

“Maine Iss Darr Se Nahin Lagaye Khwabon Ke Darakht,
Kaun Jungle Mein Ugey Ped Ko Paani Dega.”

15. Your Old Parents Reveal The ‘Big’ Secret- When after looking after your parents for half a century, one day you are told that they would have been much happier had they spent their life with their other son.

And your own life loses its meaning that very day and you start praying for your own ‘Heavenly Abode’.

“Buraai Besabab Aksar Tujhe Zamaane Se,
Agar Ae Shaad Tu Sachmuch Bura Hota To Kya Hota.”

These are blatant and harsh realities of everybody’s life although they will all not accept it out-rightly. And I wish nobody should ever enter into my shoes as I have got all 15 pairs in my shoe-rack and I do not consider it a ‘Prized Possession’ in anyway.

“Zindagi Ko Samajhna Hai To Mujhko Dekho,
Keh Gaya Toot Ke Ik Bulbula Behte Behte.”
