Of late I am confused whether it is the same land which was known for the tolerance and sacrifice of its women? Because our entertainment media has distorted the picture of Indian women to such an extent that it can only be related to a Bollywood Vamp or terrorist of worst kind. Every second channel nowadays is portraying the image of housewives like that of a Conspirator or Contract Killer or Morally Corrupt person. Women in these family soaps are always busy scheming to downsize the other woman in the family or within the social circle. I wonder what these producers are upto? Have they interpreted the meaning of modernization this way? If a woman goes out to hire contract killers does it show her progressiveness or her downfall? According to Ektaa Kapoor, men are only ‘Props’ in her serials. That’s why she has been making her woman ape men? Or, she and her other like-minded producers are suffering from mental-sickness. Whatever the reason may be but one thing is certain that they are sending across a very wrong message about our culture. It is therefore our collective responsibility to raise voice against this damaging trend to stop it here and now.
