On 07/10/2006 at 2200 hours in the night I got the shock of my life when I saw ‘THE GREATEST EVER PUBLIC PROSECUTOR’, Rajat Sharma grilling Sant Morari Bapu the only ‘Ram Katha Orator’ of the country I the ‘Witness Box’.
I had never seen a cheaper way to sell one’s product/channel like Rajat Sharma did on the fateful day. I have virtually lost all respect for him from the very day and would perhaps never be able to stand him in future.
Can there be anything more ironical in the ‘Land of Ram’ where ‘Rendering Ram Katha’ without any self interest or hidden agenda might invite a reason to raise objection and call the Saint up to the ‘Witness Box’ and make him answer the frivolous allegations. Shame on INDIA TV, Shame on Rajat Sharma, and Shame on Producers who conceived the idea. How dare they offered the same chair on which people like Mika, Rahul, Rakhi and many such insignificant people had already sit.
The charges leveled against Bapu Ji were as kiddish and ridiculous that I wonder how could Rajat Sharma even uttered them. Here are some examples:-
1. Politicisations of Lord Ram – because people of political parties too worship lord Rama – Ridiculous! Isn’t it?
2. Commercialisation of Lord Ram – because affluent devotees arrange for these Ram Kathas and spend millions for the comfort of devotees as Bapu Ji does not accept even a penny. Are you further ashamed Mr. Sharma?
3. Publicity Stunt of Ram Katha – because on two occasions Bapu Ji gave discourse at a place other than a ‘Pandal’ – once on board of an Aircraft and once during a Cruise’. To me it was the best utilization of journey time but if you think otherwise Mr. Sharma, what was it when you called Bapu Ji in ‘Janata Ki Adalat’? Wasn’t it a blatant publicity stunt just for the gain of your channel and nothing else.
4. Singing of Movie Songs during discourse – Bapu Ji likes ‘Dum Dum Diga Diga’ and ‘Tumhein Aur Kya Doon Mein Dil Ke Siwa, Tumko Hamari Umar Lag Jaye’. Can anybody extract even a single objectionable word out of it and the spirit which made Bapu Ji recite these songs? But no! Rajat Sharma’s channel sells more when Bar Girls sing ‘Kajra Re Kajra Re’ in Ravana’s Durbar.
Through your column I would like to urge Ram Chandra Ji to leave this country and look for some other refuge because we have ceased to remain his devotees any longer under the leadership of Intellectuals like Rajat Sharma who cannot think beyond Green Bucks and stoop to any low in order to accumulate them.
Honestly Ram Chandra Ji, please forgive we Indians and disown us as we do not deserve you anymore.
All said and done but I would like to recite an Urdu couplet to haughty Rajat Sharma although I doubt that he would be sufficiently prudent to understand it:-
“Bulandiyon Ko Ghalat Jaaviyon Se Mat Dekho,
Tumharey Sar Pe Bhi Dastar Hai Khayal Rahe.”
