Ever since the “Hindu Philosophy” has come into existence we are being made to believe that there is a concept of “Punarjanma”, i.e. “Re-birth”, and our entire philosophy revolves around it.
Although I do not completely denounce the philosophy of re-birth in order to clear our debts of misdeeds of previous birth, I am of a very strong opinion that one should not fully give-in to this theory. Because, this makes one reckless and encourages himself to carry on with the misdeeds in his current life.
To me, if there exists anything like ‘Paap’ & ‘Punya’ i.e. ‘Sin’ & ‘Virtue’ it gets settled in the current life itself. And, even if my theory or belief doesn’t sound convincing, I would still like our Religious Gurus to redefine the theory and logic behind re-birth and repercussions of deeds and misdeeds.
Please allow me to elaborate on this.
Ever since our childhood days we are taught that all our wrong-doings travel with us till next birth and we pay for them in next life. Entirely believing in this theory makes one a bit comfortable that re-birth is too far-off and he could afford to be extravagant in his conduct (or misconduct?), because till now nobody has been able to scientifically prove that there really exists anything like re-birth. This element of tentativeness is very dangerous for those who are sitting on the boundary-line of moral and immoral behavior. This confusion, therefore, gives them a lead to lead an uncontrolled life. That way the current life is gone. People with such approach believe in:-
“Tujhse Teri Duniya Hi Naa Sanwari Ab Tak,
Ae Jaan-E-Do-Aalam Meri Hasti Kya Hai.”
Now comes the second school of thought which advocates the idea that the reason behind all our sufferings in current life is due to our misdeeds of previous birth. Somehow I find this idea also to be an escape route for those who are incorrigible. Because, they put entire blame of their sufferings on their previous birth, which nobody has witnessed. They, therefore, carry on with their misconduct in present life. By following this ideology they are only going berserk and not God fearing. Their puritan status in the society remains in-tact and they keep ‘BORROWING’ from current life to ‘PAY BACK’ in next. For them also I have two lines to keep them wary of the other side of their false justification:-
“Qabr Ke Patthar Ke Neechey Thi Meri Aiyaashiyaan,
Aur Mere Aamal Ka Saya Mere Bachchon Pe Tha.”
If both the above ideologies have flaws, then what is the best path to adopt? In my opinion we should be made to believe that we all payback and get rewarded for our deeds and misdeeds during this lifetime only. This will certainly turn every God fearing person more cautious towards his approach of life. Moreover, if he really believes in re-birth he would depart for his heavenly abode more peacefully with a confidence that he will start his next life with a clean slate without any guilt whatsoever. I would, therefore, appeal Religious Gurus who have a good following of God fearing people to change the mindset of people in order to change the current picture of the society.
All said and done, but since I am just a common man with a limited vision, I cannot say as to what extent my idea makes sense, but I would like to sum up with:-
“Aa Baith Sochein, Kaise Suljhey Haalaat Ki Gutthi,
Ahal-e-Daanish Ne Badi Soch Ke Uljhai Hai.”
