2007 - The Year of Controversy for Yog Guru Baba Ramdev

When I saw the palm of Baba Ramdev in August 2005, it was made clear that he would be surrounded by controversies one after the other. Immediately after that in October 2005 , he was grilled by Brinda Karat on the exploitation of labour and mixing human parts in the medicines. Later he made controversial statements alleging about one amateur journalist from Jullundur who had boarded the helicopter to Hamirpur[HP].He termed him as terrorist which proved false later on. He remained in controversy again for his outspoken dialogues in interview with media on the topics like religion,cricketers,land,medicines etc.

Now again he has been grilled by Health Minister Ram Das on his tall claims to cure diseases like AIDS & CANCER. The media has too started having polls on the unproven claims. Baba's aides allow only those patients to speak in the camps ,telecast by Aastha channel; who utter in favour or in the praise of Baba. Similarly his journal YOG SANDESH carries only those letters which admire him. In last 5 years no letter has been included in this monthly magazine which speaks of patient's failure to his Yoga.. Baba should exercise some restraints on the statements. More controversies are in store for him in 2007.
