Essence Of Humanity
Posted by : deepak verma on 28-Aug-2005 Total Views : 118

When I found out my mom had cancer
I refused to believe
That this woman that I loved so much
Was dying

I ignored it as much as I could
Denied it from day one
That there was no possible way
That one day she’d be gone

I burned it from my memory
That this diesase was actually real
That it was taking over her body
Making her helpless and ill

I couldn’t believe
That someone so sweet and pure
That was the essence of humanity
That there very life was ripped from them, shreaded and torn

I couldn’t understand why
My mother was being taken from me
The one who understood me the most
Was being forced to leave

And the very hour
That there was turning back
That she was offically leaving the world
I ran and hid in the back

I couldn’t believe that my mother was dying
I didn’t even kiss her goodbye
Instead I sat there selfish in the corner
Screaming WHY OH WHY!

It’s been over five years since that moment
And I am only now accepting that she died
More important I am accepting that she lived
That she lived so happy of a life

You see my mother, my angel
She had so much love in her heart
And even though she had hardships upon her
She never let that pain tear her apart

And even though she was going through so much
She was always thinking of others
She touched everyone’s heart that she met
I had the most increbile mother!

My Daddy Was A GI
Posted by : deepak verma on 26-Aug-2005 Total Views : 120

My Daddy was a GI

My Daddy was a GI from the US of A
He went to fight the enemy in a big land far away
He left my mom cryin her eyes were full of tears
And I never knew I had a Daddy for over 50 years

I have wondered what my Daddy was like
Was he big and was he tall
For I am just a big man like an old country wall
My eyes they are bright blue my hair is blonde and fair
Is this just how my Daddy looked that night he was standing there

I never even met my mom and my Daddy in all these years
And my heart has been full of sorrow and my eyes were full of tears
When I saw the children dancin and their hearts were full of joy
I wondered if my mom or Daddy knew of their little boy

Well nearly 60 years have passed and my eyes still fill with tears
And I will search the whole world over in my remaining years
To try and find my Daddy just to maybe hear him say
Hello bigman I missed you and loved you every day
I ask you Lord to help me to find my Daddy who must be old
My Mom is already beside you and my story is nearly told

Daddy's Little Girl
Posted by : deepak verma on 20-Aug-2005 Total Views : 150

If I had my life to do over,
I'd have chosen you to be my dad
once more.
Even if it meant losing you again,
It's worth all the tears in the
world.
You were my sunshine when skies
were gray.
I loved you and honored you;
You took all my tears away.
I was happy to be with you,
Proud to be your little girl.
Sometimes we would argue,
But to me you meant the world.
Your love was always pure;
You treated me as your own.
Your time seemed all too short and
I feel so alone.
What can I take from this?
My heart is completely crushed.
But nothing loved is ever lost -
And you are loved so much.

Dad

Dad...so many images come to mind
whenever I speak your name;
It seems without you in my life
things have never been the same.

What happened to those lazy days
when I was just a child;
When my life was consumed in you
in your love, and in your smile.

What happened to all those times
when I always looked to you;
No matter what happened in my life
you could make my gray skies blue.

Dad, some days I hear your voice
and turn to see your face;
Yet in my turning...it seems
the sound has been erased.

Dad, who will I turn to for answers
when life does not make sense;
Who will be there to hold me close
when the pieces just don't fit.

Oh, Dad, if I could turn back time
and once more hear your voice;
I'd tell you that out of all the dads
you would still be my choice.

Please always know I love you
and no one can take your place;
Years may come and go
but your memory will never be erased.

Today, Jesus, as You are listening
in your home above;
Would you go and find my dad
and give him all my love.

Please, Dad

As soft winds sweep away the days
I look back on life through a haze.
Remember playgrounds, parks and friends,
In childlike gaze that never ends.
The laughter in a game of catch,
Shall memory ever attach...
To innocence in youthful eyes,
Catching the ball to Dad's surprise.

I recall my first bike, first wreck,
Who picked me up, said, "What the heck?"
Convinced me to give one more try,
While, knees skinned, I forgot to cry.
Just the joy knowing he was there,
Making him proud my only care.
There was nothing I couldn't do,
My heart held fast that to be true.

Though teenage years were kind of rough,
I sure wasn't too big or tough.
You taught me to defend what's right
And never back down from a fight.
So I learned the hard way to stand,
Still, with each lump, I found your hand.
Drawing from you an inner strength,
And stubborn pride of equal length.

But there the line of fate was drawn,
As though I blinked and you were gone.
I found myself facing the sun,
Not man, not boy, fatherless, one.
Eyes blinded by a void inside,
I could not live that you had died.
Alas finding it to be true,
I could do nothing without you.

Please, Dad, today just hear my call,
I'm sorry that I dropped the ball.
My life is wrecked, my knees are skinned,
My emotions undisciplined.
I can't get up although I try,
Please don't be upset if I cry.
Though I can't fight what I can't see,
Please, Dad, say you're still proud of me.

Greatly Missed
Posted by : deepak verma on 20-Aug-2005 Total Views : 204

A Fathers touch, A Daddy's kiss,
A grieving Daughter, You're greatly missed.

An empty house, An empty chair,
A fathers love, No longer there.

A broken heart, Tear filled eye,
Another soul to fill the sky.

Many memories in my mind,
Some I laugh, Some I cry.

The times we shared, The laughs we had,
Things I miss when I think of you Dad.

Realizing that's all I have to hold on too,
Only memories, Of what once was you.

Missing your laugh, I will never again hear.
That is the reality that fills me with so much fear.

No more smile on your face,
No more warmth of your embrace.

The last hug, The last kiss,
The last "goodbye" leaves me with one last wish...

To have you Dad, here today,
Never to leave your Daughter this way.

A Father's touch, A Daddy's kiss,
A grieving Daughter, YOU'RE GREATLY MISSED!
