Nature's GiftPosted by : Vivek Chhabra on 16-Aug-2006 Total Views : 452 Species of animals, birds & insects,
In a cluster of branches,
Natural habitats, covered with vegetation of some sort,
High degree of bio-diversity,
And rope like creepers, slender trunks,
Rare plants and valuable trees,
A kingdom of the lion once,
Jungle has the tropical climate,
As the natural heritage of ours.

Nature’s PridePosted by : Revathi D Krishnan on 17-Jul-2006 Total Views : 316 Earth is named for bits and pieces,
Offered life to many more species,
Threat and war overwhelmed patience,
Bombed thousands and no more silence.
Lots and lots ashore at the beach,
Aged five or fifty enjoy their breech,
Jimmy Jamie all made fun at feast,
Tsunami gulped to quench thirst as beast.
Just like a torn paper in width,
Swallowed plenty of mankind in depth,
Extinguished the fire of it's hunger,
Earthquake left the tinge of anger.
Poverty hasten to spread aboard and wide,
Hooded monsters poisoned mind to suicide,
Pushing life to an abrupt end in peace,
Pressing as if the only way to ease.
Oh dear! Can sense the damn fear,
How these loses be countered to answer,
Is it a nature’s check to over-population?
Or else a revenge on over-pollution!!

The RainPosted by : Sumeet on 09-May-2006 Total Views : 480 Barren- devoid of greenery lay the land – my home
once aplenty with vegetation green-so soothing to the eyes,
scorching heat having claimed parched lands & lives
causing dwellings of many to be filled with piercing cries.
Pouplace of varied community pushed to altars of their deities
offering prayers to wash away the parched sorrow,
rendereing impotence to seeds of communalism created by’social-icons’
folded hands in unison to pray for a rainy tommorow.
The rain-GOD at last showering mercy
bringing forth a deluge spreading joy in hearts of people,
barren soil giving way to greenery
giving the cattle –livestock fodder ample.
Droplets of emerald rain shining on foliage
presenting a vision of a bedecked new bride,
the rainbow adorning the blue shy-line
it’s glorious beauty spread over with sublime pride

MiragePosted by : Sumeet on 09-May-2006 Total Views : 267 She Was A Phantom of Delight !
As he saw her at first glance she seemed
a complete picture of glowing radiance;
Her face a halo of delight;
radaint,bright-like the moon!
Her walk-a poet's delight
causing enough to stir as water is when a pebble dropped;
her tresses flowing down
like ripples on riverbank
caused by the reflecting moon !
She was a phantom of delight !
However little did he know ,
that glitter at distance is often a mirage at hand !
And when he did find out reality
it was too late....it was all a mirage !

DESERT MAGICPosted by : Tanay Kumar Das on 22-Apr-2006 Total Views : 283 Wine stained fingers, trace feathery shadows across the dunes.
Soft susurrations tease the hot evening silence.
The huge molten sun is gently lowered,
it's heat a living thing-
by unseen hands...
Vermillion streaked skies empty,
as the first star peeks through sunset eyes.
Shimmering pellucid heat devils beckon in the distance,
watery, shifting dancers,
in this quiet place.
Slowly, slowly
a quiet midnight curtain lowers,
stroking this fevered earth with a cooling hand.
The moon softly illumines all,
as darkness enfolds this earth,
in its velvet embrace.

PAINTING MOONLIGHTPosted by : Tanay Kumar Das on 22-Apr-2006 Total Views : 372 Painting the desert, sun-setting the tone
Starving backstage, morning-stars are jaded
The moonshine murmur still shivers alone
Curved slice of sliver, shear breath shadows stone
Suspending twilight shiny and shaded
Painting the desert, sun-setting the tone
Carving solace into silver in June
On horizons’ glow from forgotten gold
The moonshine’s’ shilling delivers alone
Gleaming duels of knights, pierce deathly silence
Steel tines of starlight, clashing swords they hold
Painting the desert, sun-setting the tone
Dimples aware, sparkle sand on the dune
Winking at comets, after tails are told
The moon-sand whispers, sift rivers alone
Sharpness they hone, filing skills onto stone
Starlight dazzles, its own space created
Painting the desert, sun-setting the tone
From owls’ talon, moonlight shimmers alone
