I HIDE !
Posted by : Tanay Kumar Das on 07-Apr-2006 Total Views : 201

I hide within a culture where black people
kill their brother everyday
no other culture on this earth
slaughter humans in this way..

Listen to what I say!…

I hide within a culture where white rulers estimate
the body count…the after effects..
of the importation and proliferation
of drugs and alcohol
of guns and disease…and biased media..
that they control…

the ‘when and where and who …will fall’

These white men have no soul…
world domination is their goal

White rulers that get rich from war..
old racist men that know it all..

I hide within that culture ….

The Man In The Moon
Posted by : Tanay Kumar Das on 06-Apr-2006 Total Views : 220

My window was open
And my eyes wouldn't close
All night I'd been hopin'
That I would dose
But the light from the moon
Shone full into my room
And burned in my body
Like a fiery wound.

As I lay dying,
My heart deeply sighing
Like the wind in the willows beyond,
A desolate howling
Came from without
And filled me with terror unknown.
Upon my bed cowering
I began to shout
But it tore into my body
And brought forth my soul
Leaving me empty
And cold.

Upon my bed shivering
My spirit quivering
I hugged my hollow form.
I felt more forlorn
Than a child alone
Forever in hell
For in God's home
I once did dwell
And the mem'ry of't was still so new
I had the smell of His flowers in my hair
Upon my lips the kiss of His dew.

In the dark I waited
And the sun never rose again.
Once I looked over my windowsill
And saw a forsaken plain.
Dark shadows there stood writhing
And wailing in the endless night.
I closed my ears and closed my eyes
But the sounds that I was hearing
Were not from somewhere outside
They came from deep within
Where the fire resides.

I heard the crackling furnace
The blaze consuming my flesh,
As the light of inspiration, in its quest,
Lit upon the brittle shell
Of the hollow man in hell
And blackened it like paper
That shattered in the wind
And slowly flew away
On ashen wings.

Upon the bed lay burning
A single spark of fire
That once had been the will
Of a man who did expire.
From its light a feather grew
And soon a flaming wing
Until at last the phoenix flew
Into a sky now brightening.

What it was that woke my soul
Never will I know
But this I have to say:
That though I may not yet be whole
Ever will I grow.

Safe Heaven !
Posted by : Tanay Kumar Das on 06-Apr-2006 Total Views : 182

I feel this urge to make certain changes in my life,
I see a beautiful future with clear skies.
You must leave now for those changes to take place.
I don’t see you in my future!
I have been living in a land of fantasies,
I have been sleeping these past years,
I now wake to a dark presence,
To a world of misery and despair.

I ask you why and you choke –
You can’t tell me the truth.
Why do things feel so out of place?
You promised to keep me safe while i sleep.
You say they deceived you,
Took your heart and left you cold.
What has that got to do with me?
That was two decades ago, this is now.

The gentle breeze that woke me up,
That sweet lullaby that went through the trees,
Washed away the dust in my eyes…
Its not just black and white, there is gray in there somewhere.

This dark presence passes away,
The brightness of the sun makes my eyes water.
These tears will pave the way for a brighter future.
She now holds my hand and shows me tomorrow through the glass.
A promise for a SAFE HAVEN.

Cradle Me !
Posted by : Tanay Kumar Das on 06-Apr-2006 Total Views : 194

One night long ago,
I lay down upon my bed,
a terrible aloneness filling heart and head.
So weeping softly, quietly I began to pray,
"Oh, Father, if only in this moment, this day,
like a babe you would cradle me in your arms,
to soothe away all my alarms.
And He did. He did!
Oh, praise the Lord, He answered as I bid!

At once that long ago,
I felt a deep measure of His care
and His abiding love so willing to share.
Then I knew… I'd never been a lone.
It had just been Satan's ill wind blown,
intended to toss me from a righteous path,
his evil game rewarded by God's wrath.
Oh, praise the Lord, He answered as I bid!
For then I knew, from me He'd never hid.

And since that time long ago,
I've not felt again as a cradled babe,
yet each time I stumble, He fails not to save.
So I fill each day with joyous praise
As I look upon His creation with a loving gaze,
knowing He fulfills my every need…
If only I hear— and heed.
"Oh, Lord! In me, bind up your testimony
and seal your law
that in Christ's light, I'll be found without flaw!"

And He did as I bid!

Those 9 Months
Posted by : Tanay Kumar Das on 06-Apr-2006 Total Views : 203

I often wonder
How you stood it,
Those nine months,
With me feeding
Off of you
Like a parasite
Until one day
You expelled me.

You forced me out
The way you would
Later do
Time and time
again
With a glance
Or a word
Or lack there of.

And I wonder
If even then,
Beneath your stretched
And pale skin,
I sensed
The lack of
Symbiosis

And maybe
I knew
To take
all that I could
That one day
it would be
You
Who would
Feed off of
Me

Pace Ourselves
Posted by : Tanay Kumar Das on 05-Apr-2006 Total Views : 199

As the rain clouds wither into wisps
That is when we'll clasp our lips
The sun will put up a fight
To make sure your eyes sparkle in the light

Hope my hands will not start to tremble
My heart is not a toy to be disassembled
I can remember the memories that were lost
Oh no way will it ever be at my cost

I know you know walking down this shrinking path
That we must fit in atleast one more laugh
The sheer beauty of your voice melts the sun
Please this time let us not run
