Shrimati Ki Neend
Posted by : Rajeev Kumar on 03-Nov-2005 Total Views : 884

Sam ko jab office se baps Aaya,
sone ee mast beebi ko Jgaya,

Unhone karbat Badali to Pairon Ke Ghunghru Baj Gaye,
Ghunghru Ki Abaz Sun Kar Ham Bahin Ruk Gaye,

Chand Samay Paschat Hamne Unki Ungri Hilai,
Mchchhar Samajh Kar Mere Gal Per Thappar Jamai,

Dharmpatni Ke Pujari The, Ham Kuch Na Kah Sake The,
Kiyon Ki Wo Hamse Chhoti Thi Ham Panch Sal Bade The,

Ek Din Saptah Ke Beech me Budhbar Ka Din Aaya,
Srimati Ne T.V.Kholi Aur Chitrahar Aaya,

Chitrahar Khatm Hua Srimati Ji Ko Neend Aa Gai,
Bechain Tha Bhoonkh Se Lekin Mujhe Ek Geet Ki Yad Aa Gai,

Bachchon Ke Beech Baitha Ghanti Hila Raha Hoon,Yahi Gunguna Diya,
Sote Me Unhen Aabaj Kam Lagi, Voliom Ke Dhoke Mera Kan Ghuma Diya,

Maine Pahle Chillaya Fir Bad Me Ro Diya,
Unhone Galti Ko Sori Kahkar Tal Diya,

Ek Bar Unhen Dhamkaya Aur Doosari Sadi Ka Dhong Rachya,
Wo Aaj Tak Bilkul Line Per Hain Unhen Itna Sadi Se Darbaya,

Sabse Bari Kami Nari Ki Rajeev Ne Hai Jani,
Sudh-Vishudh Nari Kasi Ho Sautan Se Ghabrani,

He Never Expected Much
Posted by : Ripudaman Saini on 19-Oct-2005 Total Views : 532

Well, World, you have kept faith with me,
Kept faith with me;
Upon the whole you have proved to be
Much as you said you were.
Since as a child I used to lie
Upon the leaze and watch the sky,
Never, I own, expected I
That life would all be fair.

'Twas then you said, and since have said,
Times since have said,
In that mysterious voice you shed
From clouds and hills around:
"Many have loved me desperately,
Many with smooth serenity,
While some have shown contempt of me
Till they dropped underground.

"I do not promise overmuch,
Child; overmuch;
Just neutral-tinted haps and such,"
You said to minds like mine.
Wise warning for your credit's sake!
Which I for one failed not to take,
And hence could stem such strain and ache
As each year might assign.

Many with smooth serenity,
While some have shown contempt of me
Till they dropped underground.

I Too Sing!...america
Posted by : Ripudaman Saini on 09-Oct-2005 Total Views : 439

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.

Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed--

I, too, am America.

Let America Be America Again!
Posted by : Ripudaman Saini on 09-Oct-2005 Total Views : 352

Let America be America again.
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.

(America never was America to me.)

Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed
Let it be that great strong land of love
Where never kings connive nor tyrants scheme
That any man be crushed by one above.

(It never was America to me.)

O, let my land be a land where Liberty
Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,
But opportunity is real, and life is free,
Equality is in the air we breathe.

(There's never been equality for me,
Nor freedom in this "homeland of the free.")

Say, who are you that mumbles in the dark?
And who are you that draws your veil across the stars?

I am the poor white, fooled and pushed apart,
I am the Negro bearing slavery's scars.
I am the red man driven from the land,
I am the immigrant clutching the hope I seek
And finding only the same old stupid plan
Of dog eat dog, of mighty crush the weak.

I am the young man, full of strength and hope,
Tangled in that ancient endless chain
Of profit, power, gain, of grab the land!
Of grab the gold! Of grab the ways of satisfying need!
Of work the men! Of take the pay!
Of owning everything for one's own greed!

I am the farmer, bondsman to the soil.
I am the worker sold to the machine.
I am the Negro, servant to you all.
I am the people, humble, hungry, mean
Hungry yet today despite the dream.
Beaten yet today--O, Pioneers!
I am the man who never got ahead,
The poorest worker bartered through the years.

Yet I'm the one who dreamt our basic dream
In the Old World while still a serf of kings,
Who dreamt a dream so strong, so brave, so true,
That even yet its mighty daring sings
In every brick and stone, in every furrow turned
That's made America the land it has become.
O, I'm the man who sailed those early seas
In search of what I meant to be my home
For I'm the one who left dark Ireland's shore,
And Poland's plain, and England's grassy lea,
And torn from Black Africa's strand I came
To build a "homeland of the free."

The free?

Who said the free? Not me?
Surely not me? The millions on relief today?
The millions shot down when we strike?
The millions who have nothing for our pay?
For all the dreams we've dreamed
And all the songs we've sung
And all the hopes we've held
And all the flags we've hung,
The millions who have nothing for our pay
Except the dream that's almost dead today.

O, let America be America again
The land that never has been yet
And yet must be-the land where every man is free.
The land that's min--the poor man's, Indian's, Negro's, ME-
Who made America,
Whose sweat and blood, whose faith and pain,
Whose hand at the foundry, whose plow in the rain,
Must bring back our mighty dream again.

Sure, call me any ugly name you choose
The steel of freedom does not stain.
From those who live like leeches on the people's lives,
We must take back our land again,
America!

O, yes,
I say it plain,
America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath
America will be!

Out of the rack and ruin of our gangster death,
The rape and rot of graft, and stealth, and lies,
We, the people, must redeem
The land, the mines, the plants, the rivers.
The mountains and the endless plain
All, all the stretch of these great green states
And make America again!

Forward!
Posted by : Ripudaman Saini on 02-Oct-2005 Total Views : 455

"Forward! forward!"
Rang our fathers' battle-cry.
"Forward! forward!"
Norsemen, be our watchword high!
All that fires the spirit and makes the heart's faith bright,
For that we forward go with might
And faithful fight.

"Forward! forward!"
Whoso loves a home that's free.
"Forward! forward!"
Freedom's course must ever be.
Though it shall be tested by doubt and by defeat,
Who will the losses' count repeat
When vict'ries greet?

"Forward! forward!"
Whoso trusts in Norway's day.
"Forward! forward!"
Whoso goes our fathers' way.
Hid in Northern mountains are spirit-treasures true
They shall, when dawns the morning's blue,
Come forth anew.

God Save The Flag!
Posted by : Ripudaman Saini on 28-Sep-2005 Total Views : 768

Washed in the blood of the brave and the blooming,
Snatched from the altars of insolent foes,
Burning with star-fires, but never consuming,
Flash its broad ribbons of lily and rose.

Vainly the prophets of Baal would rend it,
Vainly his worshippers pray for its fall;
Thousands have died for it, millions defend it,
Emblem of justice and mercy to all;

Justice that reddens the sky with her terrors,
Mercy that comes with her white-handed train,
Soothing all passions, redeeming all errors,
Sheathing the sabre and breaking the chain.

Borne on the deluge of all usurpations,
Drifted our Ark o'er the desolate seas,
Bearing the rainbow of hope to the nations,
Torn from the storm-cloud and flung to the breeze!

God bless the Flag and its loyal defenders,
While its broad folds o'er the battle-field wave,
Till the dim star-wreath rekindle its splendors,
Washed from its stains in the blood of the brave!
