| Present life |
Cairns has retired from the New Zealand Test team in 2004. On January 22, 2006, Cairns announced his retirement from ODIs in a tear-filled press conference. Cairns was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in June 2005 in recognition of his contribution to cricket. He also owns a novelty fudge company called Cairns Fudge. |
