Brendon John Diamanti born 30 April 1981 in Blenheim is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Central Districts and was awarded a player's contract for 2006-07.On January 21, 2009.Brendon Diamanti, a late developer with Central Districts, has become a limited-overs specialist with a knack for picking up valuable wickets and handy lower-order runs. Diamanti's multi-purpose skills impressed the selectors enough in 2008-09 for him to be chosen in the New Zealand squad for the Chappell-Hadlee Series in Australia. A big-hitting batsman, Diamanti struck 28 off nine balls in a one-day game against Canterbury that season, but his bowling is of greater value even though he can be expensive. Capable of swinging the ball, he operates at a reasonable speed and has a reputation for making things happen. Diamanti has appeared in 20 first-class games, with a top score of 136 and best bowling of 6 for 73, but none since the end of 2007-08. Diamanti was selected for the New Zealand squad for the one-day series against Australia in February 2009, and made his debut in the final match of the series on 13 February 2009. |
