Dr. R.S.Paik had his training for MBBS at the prestigious Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, Punjab from 1971-1976. There he had the opportunity to be trained under Dr. Betty Cowan (UK), Dr. F.C.Eggleston (USA) and Dr. Howie (New Zealand). In high standards of those days, graduation from CMC was just like studying in a good medical school in a western country.

Thereafter he joined PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research), Chandigarh in 1977 and completed his MD in internal Medicine in 1980. During and after his MD, he was actively involved in clinical and research work in the Deptt. of Rheumatology and wrote a thesis on Rheumatic Diseases. He completed his fellowship in the Rheumatology Deptt. in 1980.

In 1980, he joined Immaculate Mission Hospital in Muktsar, Punjab as Chief Medical Officer and Physician and Rheumatologist where again he had a good experience of treating various diseases of Joints and Backache.

In 1982, he came back to Chandigarh and was the first one to set up his own Rheumatic Diseases Centre in the Tricity. Thus he has 30 Years of Experience in the field of Rheumatology and has seen three generations of patients in the field of Pediatric and Adult Rheumatic Diseases.
