 Diet

DIET! One of the most dreaded words it means giving up all those delectable desserts, it means working out, it means the end to happiness as we know it, well, but that's what it feels like when you're on a diet. So, why is it that dieting is so hard? Like any substance that enters the body your body becomes accustom to certain levels of sugars, proteins, calories, and so on so when you go on the diet, your body isn't getting what its used to and it complains to you, by making you feel hungry, nauseous, sleepiness, and many other symptoms.

So in many ways food is an addiction, our body gets addicted to certain things, and when we take those certain things away our body sends you a messages. That's usually why the first few days of a diet is always the most difficult, because that's when the cravings are the worst.

Diet Basics

1. Balanced Diet: A healthy diet is a balanced diet. It should contain foods from all the food groups.

2. Low in Saturated Fat and Low in Refined Sugar: Although we need fat and carbohydrates, we don't need saturated fat or refined sugar. These are causing our diet and weight problems.

3. We Need Good Diet Nutrition:

GOOD CARBS

Whether we are 10 pounds or 100 pounds overweight, we need a nutritious diet rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. Good carbs, like vegetables, fruit, potatoes, whole wheat bread, pasta, rice, oats, beans, soy and whole grain cereals, provide good nutrition. Vegetables, in particular, contain a range of phyto-chemicals,enzymes and other micronutrients that are essential for an efficient metabolism and a healthy diet.

High Carb - There are not usually a lot of problems with high carb diets. Just don't be too afraid of fat, and eat foods high in iron and calcium. Eat a variety of healthy foods. Make sure that you are allowed sufficient calories
Low Carb - Carbs are an important energy source, so these diets are not the best choice if you want to start exercising.Low carb diets restrict the amount of fruits and vegetables you can eat, even though many of these foods contain phytochemicals that are known to reduce the risk of disease (not to mention the vitamins, minerals, and fiber you will be cutting out of your diet). If you decide to go low-carb, look for a diet that allows you to eat a sufficient amount of low carb vegetables and fruits, and contain 'healthy' fats like fish and nuts.
High Protein - Most high protein fad diets are also low carb, so see the warnings about low carb diets. Higher protein diets that are moderate in fats and carbohydrates can be a healthy alternative to the low carb craze. People who lift weights will find they get better results if they follow a higher protein diet.

GOOD FATS

These should come mainly from monounsaturated or polyunsaturated food sources, rather than animal fats. However, since fat contains more than twice the calories of other foods, it should be eaten in reduced quantities if you want to lose weight. choose very lean or low fat foods.

The food then sits in your stomach "putrefying" and causing toxins. (I thought this part was particularly gross. Just the thought of food putrifying in my stomach was enough to keep me from cheating.) When the food is left to putrefy it releases toxins which are not eliminated timely. A person, as a result, feels tired, weighed down, and generally lacks energy.
