When a child is ready for preschool it is very important his language should be very clear otherwise, he'd be unable to communicate her needs, wants and desires to the outside world. Language is an important part of your preschooler’s life.
Here are some interesting ideas for your pre-schooler's language development, so that she can make best use of her ability to communicate effectively.
-
Talking is very important. So talk a lot with your child. Child will learn to express himself.
-
Read with your child, and follow his lead. Take new words or concepts introduced in the book and use them in real life situations with your child.
-
Have fun with riddles, puns, tongue-twisters and other word games. These emphasize the playful portion of language and teach your child important language skills, such as vocabulary, use of grammar.
-
Do activities which involve singing or memorizing nursery rhymes or other short poems because most children love speech in rhythm, like rhymes and songs. And these activities provide great speech and language practice.
-
Let your child use a tape recorder to record her voice and hear it played back. This gives her immediate reaction on how she's coming across.
-
Take advantage of everyday activities to expose your toddler or preschooler to new words. While shopping, name items and let her hold them before you put them in your grocery cart. Name body parts and clothing during bath and dressing times. And remember, your child needs to hear words repeated many times before she will be able to say them on her own.
And my last suggestion is ask questions about whatever your child is attending to and then is sure to wait patiently while he comes up with an answer. |
