Gynaecomastia or female like breasts in men, is a common condition .  Pictures of bare chested models, so often seen , set a high ideal of bulging well defined muscles  for young men. Currently in fashion tight T shirts made of thin material make the smallest breasts look prominent. Men with breasts are embarrassed to participate in activities that require taking off the shirt like swimming and among Hindu’s , different prayer rituals .
Gynaecomastia , though harmless is seen to cause a lot of psychological distress. Some men seem to associate it with problem of their sexuality and suffer a lot of unnecessary trauma. Some others lose their sleep over smallest of the breasts which is apparent only to them and to no one else. At times psychological element may be so strong that even after surgery and significant improvement patient is not satisfied with his body image.
Some men are comfortable with male breasts while some others are acutely embarrassed or even depressed about it.. Since it is purely a cosmetic problem , indications of surgery are entirely individual. Whenever   person is concerned about the size of his breasts and his lifestyle or psychological well being is disturbed by having breasts, he can have them removed by plastic surgery. Age is not really a bar if breasts are big enough to cause psychological disturbance  leading to poor performance in studies, social situations and in sports.
