| A good effort | |

| A good effort by Director Aman Khan in portraying Lord Krishna's childhood and teenage days. With all the Pokemons and others having a western influence on the children today, 'Krishna' is a one of the few unique movies which can help in children learn about their religion and gods which are a very much part of the indian tradition and culture. Krishna is not just an animated film , it's a musical animated feature film as it has songs in it. And the songs, surprisingly have been sung by top playback singers of bollywood like Sunidhi,Sukwinder,Kumar sanu and Sonu nigam. Apart from Sonu nigam i haven't heard other singers sing Devotional songs. All the adventures of lord krishna in his childhood days have been shown in the movie. Notable are the mischevious antics of krishna whilst stealing butter and then denying it and also the stealing of clothes of gopis when they are taking bath(It would be a bit hard to explain this to the children). Other attractions include the raas leela scenes and krishna's return to mathura to bring an end to his evil uncle kansa. The movie ends with the Triumph of good over evil. The movie has good moral values to teach especially to the children like one should always do good deeds and no matter how powerful evil maybe in the end good always wins. It leaves a good impression on the mindset of the children that they should refrain from evil acts and also it strenghtens their faith in the everpresnece of the god. Vibrant and colourful movie not only for the children but for the whole family as well. For children who don't know much about their religion and gods,it's a good presentation as children learn and remember more from visual medium rather than just text book literature. For adults it's another visual form of lord krishna's life as it is in animated form and they can recall and relive those moments when their own elders told them the adventures of liitle Krishna. So if you want to see an animated portrayal of your elders stories about krsihna and if you are really concerned about your childrens morals and traditional values, take them along with you and let the Saga Of Little Krishna Unfold Before you. | |
| Animation quality leaves lot to be desired. | |

| Krishna in an animated form could have been made much, much better. It leaves a room for lot of improvement. The indian animation industry is stiil in it's Infancy. Take a look at all the hollywood animated movies and you will see a vast difference in the quality of the animation as compared to the what the bollywood churns out. I first saw the spectacle of hollywood animation on the big screen in the form of 'LION KING' which is still etched in my memory. From then onwards it has become like a tradition for hollywood to produce 2-3 animated movies every month. Even children will agree that the krishna's animation is average as they too, just like me must have seen so many hollywood masterpieces on T.V. like 'ICE AGE', 'SHREK' And the 'FINAL FANTASY' With it's almost virtual flesh and blood alike characters which made you feel that they are almost like real actors. Last year we had Hanuman which was entertaining but it too was not up to the level of hollywood. Agreed that the budget costs have to be taken into consideration but at least you can present a much better quality if not that of hollywood standards. I remeber watching 'Ramayan cartoon movie' made by Japanese Director Yugo-Sako a few years back and that movie is still fresh in my memory. If you really want to make a movie worth remembering try to involve or at least collaborate with the foreigners who are masters in animation. That way the movie will have a Universal Appeal and the movie can get an International recognition or maybe go into Oscars. Another advantage would be the The western world which has been influencing indians in all areas of life will Get the Indian Influence Treatment in this way. A sort of Reverse Trend. I mean how many animation movies had an indian influence on the western world ? Moreover Krishna is a revered form of god all over india and if you really want to pay a tribute to him and not just make really your own personal presentation just for the sake of being known or for profit driven motive than please Improve the quality. Learn from the foreigners or get their superior softwares or whatever is required and then it would be Not Really A Treat for the eyes but also it would raise the bar of animation quality in the Bollywood industry. But at the same time you just can't ignore the attempt of the director Aman Khan who did quite an extensive work on the movie in depicting little krishna and his adventures including the famous stealing of butter, his victory over demons like Pootna, Trinavarat and others, his ras leelas and eventually taking on his evil uncle 'Kansa'. It's a 2 hour movie a bit lengthy for an animation film but it does cover almost all the aspects of lord krishna's childhood days. Devotional songs sung by top singers of bollywood is one of the uniqueness of this film. On a sclae of Five, i would give Two And A Half to this movie as it has a good subject but the animation quality leaves lot to be desired. | |
