Ram Gopal Verma after his movies based on terrorism like Satya, Company and D now comes with Contract. The film Contract is also based on underworld and terrorism. But the manner in which Ram Gopal Verma tries to bring out the concept is not convincing. The narration, treatment, screenplay is almost void in the film. Prashant Pandey's writing is extremely miserable.
Aman, inspired by the spiel given by Sultan decides to chuck his job in the army and spend time with his family instead. But when his wife and kid are killed in the blast, he takes up an offer to infiltrate into the underworld to reach the terrorists. But only one cop knows of his identity and he too is bumped off by the Home Minister (who has a nexus with Sultan).
DON becomes increasingly familiar when Iftekar dies leaving Amitabh Bachchan in limbo. But Aman, now Amaan Ali is not worried even though he has the sister of underworld king RD as his fiance When she asks him why does not he reveal his identity he explains that killing one Sultan is not enough. There are many Sultans over this Sultan and he wants to finish them all, only then his Contract will end. How he wins their confidence and starts eliminating them gradually is the crux of the film.
As far as the acting is concerned, Saakshi Gulati as Iya makes an impact. From a bimbo to one in love with Amaan she makes the transition with ease. Adhvik is great, he has a good physique and is a decent performer. Zakir Hussain and Upendra Limaye are not at their best. Sumeet Nijahawan fits the bill as RD.
On the whole, The film Contract may not be a big hit as Ram Gopal's earlier released. The film is such a drab leaving you nowhere. The editing of the film is vague. For a Ram Gopal Verma film claiming to be the completion of a trilogy, it is a big let down.
