Dostana directed by Tarun Mansukhanib is not a film based on homosexuality. It's a simple commercial film. The film has a story about two guys who love the same girl. It is just a love triangle. Homosexuality is not the base of this film, in this film the two guys just pretend to be gays. Dostana brings homosexuality out of the closet, gives it respect and dignity and doesn't treat gays as 'abnormal'.
Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan) and Kunal (John Abraham) are turned down for an apartment because the landlady doesn't want two strapping young men to corrupt her young sexy niece Neha (Priyanka Chopra) they go to plan 'G' - they pretend to be 'Gay' to secure the apartment.
All is well till they meet the sexy siren Neha and thus begins a journey of fun frolic and a test of friendship like never before. When Neha's boss Abhimanyu (Bobby Deol) enters the fray as the third contender for her affections, it gets even hotter under everyone's vests and bikinis and the boys get down and dirty in sunny Miami.
Director Tarun Mansukhani is here to stay. He deserves kudos for choosing an offbeat story, then making a foolproof screenplay and most importantly, executing it with flourish. The length is a slight deterrent in the second half and the editor could've easily cut the unwanted flab to make the narration in shape. But the film works as a package!
On the acting front, Abhishek pulls out all the stops and delivers one of the finest performances of his career. John is fantabulous. He will surely bowled-over all the girls & guys with his amazing physique. The chemistry between two is superb. Priyanka looks 'super hot'. She dishes out a very confident performance. Her body language spells 'star value'. Boman and Kirron Kher are brilliant in their acts.
On the whole, Dostana has all the things to win the audience heart. It holds a tremendous appeal to the youth. The film will do a good business on ticket counters.
