Delhi 6 is another flick by director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. His previous hits were AKS and Rang De Basanti. Now he has come up with his latest work starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor. In some aspects the story of the film resembles to the story of Swades directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar.
Delhi 6 reveals the story of of a young American boy Roshan [Abhishek Bachchan] of Indian origin, who comes to India for the first time, to drop his ailing grandmother [Waheeda Rehman]. Her grandmother is diagnosed with a life threatening disease in New York, and she wants to breathe her last in Delhi.
As Roshan after a brief culture shock, tries to understand the complexities of relations that kept his people apart from each other as well as close to each other, he slowly gets attached to Bittu (Sonam Kapoor). Roshan [Abhishek Bachchan] meets Bittu (Sonam Kapoor) a free-spirited girl, who is busy making plans of her own, while her father (Om Puri) has his own agenda; that off marrying her off to the first available boy. There's also masakali the pigeon. Bittu tells Roshan that her father (Om Puri) has clipped her wings (masakali's) so that the pigeon cannot fly. This scene explains her plight, and of her wanting to take flight.
On the acting front, Abhishek coluld not do better in this film. The way he utters the dialogues in American accent is not convincing. Sonam Kapoor is fantastinc and looking beautiful. Waheeda rehman does justice to her role. Rishi Kapoor is Ok. Om Puri, Pawan Malhotra, Vijay Raaz, Deepak Dobriyal, Divya Dutta and Cyrus Sahukar leave with a powerful performance.
On the whole, Delhi 6 is an average film. The film has good starcast and fantastic music by A.R Rahman. Overall Delhi six is a good to watch film. The film will remarkabley do a good business.
