Movie Report
Dekh Bhai Dekh directed by Rahat Kazmi is a film about small people. The film is about greed, cunning and destiny assembled around a rather crude heist. This film could have been made much more interesting than its, but the story and execution of the film is quite fine by debut director Rahat Kazmi.
Set in a small village the film tells the story of a girl named Babli (Gracy Singh). Babli's marriage in a rich family has already turned into a nightmare and she is back home after getting divorced. This desperate divorcee scoots off to share her let's-get-rich robbery plan with a forever sad friend Shyam (Siddharth Koirala) who is also in need of money to bribe the minister for a government job. Enter Yadav (Raghuveer Yadav), a small-time politician who pines for an election ticket and flashy life of a big politician and desperately needs money for the same. Since they have no experience of robbery, they plan to involve a professional thief in the mission.
They therefore get in Charan (Vijay Raaz), a cheap talking character with a crude sense of humour who fancies himself. They all plan to follow Babli's plan to steal the gold baby Krishna murti on Janmashtami night. But little do the rest three know that Babli has her own hidden agenda.
Rahat Kazmi's debut attempt is quite impressive. He has wonderfully interwoven through happy and sad flashbacks, the lives and troubles of Babli, Shyam and Yadav. Though the pacing of the film is slow the dialogues keep you in splits and forever engaged. The ending is truly unexpected.
Performance wise, Vijay Raaz is over the top with his naughty dialogues and right comic timings. Siddharth koirala has a long way to go in acting. Gracy Singh has got a hunky role after a long time. She grabs the opportunity. She has done a good job. Raghuveer Yadav is not convincing, he is just ok.
On the whole, Dekh Bhai Dekh is a simple comedy film. The film can be recommended for those who want some entertainment besides their daily routine life.
