Movie Report
Baabarr is a film directed by Ashuu Trikha. The film is about gangsters. It shows how people, even kids, live by the gun and die by the gun. It is also the story of how crime is nurtured for political gains; how vote banks are developed and protected and of the good cop and bad cop.
The film is about a 12-year-old boy Baabarr [Soham Shah] who fires his first shot to save his elder brother Sarfaraz (Shakti Kapoor) from being killed. His eyes are devoid of any emotion. His heart exhibits no remorse. After shooting the person in broad daylight, he walks the streets of Aman Ganj with a gun in one hand. Everyone present in the market watches this young lad walk with no fear.
There on, at age 22, he roams the streets fearlessly, protecting those who pay their protection fee' and eliminating those who refuse. When this reign of fear knows no bounds, the Government summons a man to put an end to all of this: Encounter specialist S.P. Dwivedi [Mithun Chakraborty]. The order is simple, arrest him or kill him. A N Chaturvedi [Om Puri] plays a corrupt cop who feeds on the excesses of Baabarr and his brothers.
Performance wise, Soham Shah is just ok, He looks more a romantic hero than a gangster. Sushant singh is impressive. He is in good form. Shakti Kapoor is fine. Mithun Chakraborty is top notch. His character is powerful. Urvashi Sharma is charming.
On the whole, Baabarr is powerful film.There is lots of bloodshed in the film but it works in its favour. Writer Ikram Akhtar's script is power-packed. Must a watch film.
