Finally the wait is over when Blue by debutant diector Anthony D'souza has been released this week. The film is a great work by Anthony. He has shown his excellent skills in this film. The story is not so new yet the direction and execution of the plot is really superb. Director Anthony has presented it in such a fantastic way that it looks brilliant on big screen.
The film is set in the sun-soaked white sand beaches of Bahamas. The story of the film is about three characters Aarav [Akshay Kumar] a rich, ambitious businessman, Sagar [Sanjay Dutt] a simple-minded sea diver and his brother Sameer [Zayed Khan], who has played the game of dice for 'life-n-death' with mafia gangster [Rahul Dev] in Bangkok. Sameer flees Bangkok and arrives in Bahamas. But the dangerous men reach Bahamas too.
Situations drop them together for a buried treasure across the deep blue region. Sagar is the sole person who can bail him out from this crisis, so, to save his brother, Sagar has to wrestle with the ghost of his dead father.
The film is very well made on technical aspects. The cinematography by Pete Zucchini is just outstanding under the water. Although, major portions have been processed with rich-grading, the innovative angles deserve special mention. The music by A R Rahman is nice, but Rahman lacks in background music in some parts of the film.
Acting wise, Akshay Kumar is okay with his performance and fascinating stunts. Look wise Lara Dutta steals the show here. She looks dazzling in this film. Acting wise she has given a matured performance. Zayed Khan is a bit fast in his role. There could have been a better option than Sanjay Dutta for this role of sea diver. Sanjay Dutta seems unenergetic but anyways he tries to put his best in his role. Rahul Dev is same as usual.
On the whole, Blue is a simple story film, beautifully made with superb technical support. Its an average thriller film. The film will do a normal business on ticket counters.
