Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani directed by Rajkumar Santoshi is a romantic comedy. The film has very appealing romantic moments. Though the film has an illogical comedy but it is funny in most parts. Casting Katrina Kaif against Ranbir Kapoor might be a risk but both of them have done wonderful job and make a good pair. Their on-screen chemistry is electrifying.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani tells the story of Prem [Ranbir Kapoor] who runs a Happy club alogn with his friends. Their fundas in life are very simple - happy, make others happy. A case of mistaken identity leads Prem to almost kidnap Jenny [Katrina Kaif], who was brought up by indifferent and uncaring foster parents.
Prem falls in love with Jenny, but realizes gradually that Jenny is in love with Rahul [Upen Patel], the son of a conniving politician [Govind Namdeo]. Prem decides to sacrifice his love and get the lovers married. But complications arise further. What chaos it all leads to as Prem goes all out to make the Jenny-Rahul marriage happen, forms the rest of this fun filled entertainer.
Rajkumar Santoshi is back in form after many years. Comedy has always been his main forte. Here he has balanced both romance and comedy very well. His narrative keeps you hooked right from the word go. And one of the biggest contributors of the film is its music by Pritam. All the songs are ruling the charts and their positioning in the film and picturisation make them even better.
Performance wise, Ranbir Kapoor has shown his power of talent in this film. He is loveable both in funny moments as well as in emotional sequences. He is just superb. Katrina Kaif is in top form and looks pretty on-screen. She balances her funny portions equally well with her emotional ones. Darshan Jariwala and Smita Jaykar are first-rate. Zakir Hussain and Govind Namdeo are a bit loud but funny.
On the whole Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani has really a good clean hearted romantic comedy. This is a film which can be enjoyed with the entire family. And above all Ranbir and Katrina make a wonderful on-screen couple. People will surely love to watch them together again.
