Rocket Singh - Salesman of the year directed by Shimit Amin is another fine work after his previous film Chak De India. This film is a documentary on life of a salesman. He has presented Ranbir kapoor as a sikh salesman wonderfully and Ranbir too does a studied and a serious role of a Sardar of values..
The movie unfurls with Harpreet Singh Bedi [Ranbir Kapoor] who is just an average student who anyhow manages to pass. The less ambitious Harpreet unlike his friends doesn't go in for higher education but opts for a Salesman's job. He lands a job as a trainee at AYS Computers and within a few days is blasted for being a 'Mahatma in the jungle.' He complains against an employee of a firm who buys bulk orders from AYS because he is asking for his 'Cut'.
AYS boss and their sales manager see red. He is insulted and asked to make just 'cold calls' from his desk. Harpreet then hits upon an idea to start his own parallel business naming his firm Rocket Sales. He gradually ropes in all the key staff members of his own office making them equal profit partners and soon becomes a big business threat to AYS. The rapidly sliding company's sliding sales figures rattle Puri. What happens to Harpreet and his Rocket Sales team after Puri tries to find who his major competitor is, forms the rest of the film.
Performance wise, Ranbir has proved his talent. He has given a brilliant performance. Manish Chaudhry as a boss is great. Gauhar Khan is very impressive. Shazahn Padamsee the debut lead actress is excellent.
On the whole, Rocket Singh - Salesman of the year is a decent film. This is really a commendable work by Shimit Amin that delights, inspires, educates and enlightens.

|Overall Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year is a very nice and decent film by director Shimit Amin. This film really delivers more than it promises.
1. Ranbir Kapoor is definitely getting better with each new film.
2. Vikash Nowlakha's cinematography is wonderful.
3. Dialogues written by Jaideep Sahni are witty and vibrant, often bringing a smile to your face.
1. There's not much excitement in the first hour, barring a few attention-grabbing scenes that pop up intermittently.
2. Unfortunately, the culmination to the story doesn't give the feeling of euphoria or victory. |
