About Movie

About Movie:- Chittagong is a Hindi film, that has been directed by Bedabrata Pain. The film stars Manoj Bajpai in the lead role and is based upon actual events of India’s Chittagong Uprising.  In a little known incident in the 1930s British occupied India, a handful of untrained teenage boys and girls, led by a school teacher, handed the British their first military defeat. Set against this backdrop, Chittagong is the story of the youngest and the most unlikely participant – a frail and diffident 14 old teenager, Jhunku Roy. It portrays an incredible journey of a teenager, who battles nagging self-doubts and reluctance on one hand, and a formidable enemy on the other, to achieve an impossible triumph

Movie Review:-  Based on real life characters and events, ‘Chittagong’ directed by NASA scientist and debutant filmmaker Bedabrata Pain is one specimen of patriotism personified piece of art woven intricately by fine nuances of film-making. Chittagong, taking its title from that scenic lush-green spot now in Bangladesh, where a band of brave boys took on the British Raj and gave it a run for its money, must be praised for taking a slice of relatively-unknown history and turning it into an engaging authentic cinema that dares to venture into a genre, which died a rather quick death after Gowariker's pseudo-historical Lagaan.

Direction, Performance and Music:- Director Pain and his co-writer Shonali Bose create a taut narrative and the film works as a socio-political drama.  The performances are earnest and genuine to the core.  Shankar Mahadevan's expressive voice sings out Prasoon Joshi's sturdy poetry with robust impact.

Overall:-  ‘Chittagong’ is a must watch for all those, who love their country.
