About Movie

Raajneeti is film directed by a very well known director Prakash Jha. The film has drama, political action, ruthless ambition and most importantly, it plays on your emotions. The film shows that Raajneeti is a complex game that people indulge in to achieve power and how this greed envelopes them and transforms them into ruthless and conniving humans.

Cousins Veerendra Pratap Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) and Prithvi Pratap Singh (Arjun Rampal) are heirs of a powerful political party. But when Prithvi is appointed to take the lead, an angry Veerendra teams up with the backward class leader Sooraj (Ajay Devgan) to plot against Prithvi and evict him from the party.

Prithvi's younger brother Samar (Ranbir Kapoor) who is studying abroad and has no political aspirations gets sucked into the political rivalry between the families. Under the mentoring of senior party and family member Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar), Samar takes charge of the conniving affairs of state to start their own political party, gather funds and get Prithvi contest against Veerendra. What unfolds next as the battle shifts ground to the elections forms the rest of the film.

Jha has done brilliantly with screenplay and dialogues. The ambience is perfect. Body language of each and every performer is 'politically correct'. There is ambition, drive and a burning desire in each of the characters to be one up on the other. But in the sidelines is Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar) who is actually the decision maker in the warring family. He holds the remote control.

Performance wise, Each and every actor in this film has delivered his/her best performance. But the ones who stand out are Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Manoj Bajpayee. Ranbir Kapoor is improving film by film. Arjun is just superb. He delivers really a terrific and mind blowing performance. Manoj gives his career-best performance. He plays the evil part superbly. Ajay Devagan is brilliant. Katrina Kaif is perfect for her role and looks beautiful on screen as usual. Nana Patekar is excellent.

On the whole, Rajneeti is an important film in today's times. An interesting portrayal of political ambitions and a truly admirable effort, this brilliant film is not to be missed.
