PCB chief likely to be summoned by probe committee
Lahore : Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Nasim Ashraf is likely to be summoned by the three-member committee formed to evaluate the reason behind the team's World Cup debacle, the Pakistan media reported Tuesday.
The PCB had accepted all demands of the committee which had asked for maximum powers, which meant that any person including the chairman of the board could be called in for questioning to put together the findings, reported the Dawn Tuesday.
The three-member committee, headed by former Test player Ijaz Butt, was formed Saturday and entrusted with the task of completing its findings in 30 days. The other two members of the committee are also former Test cricketers, Salim Altaf and Salahuddin.
The other prominent people who could be summoned during the probe are former chief selector Wasim Bari, former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, manager Talat Ali Malik, other members of the team management and a few other cricketers who were part of the World Cup squad.
Pakistan failed to qualify for the Super Eights stage after facing successive defeats at the hands of hosts West Indies and minnows Ireland in the first round.
