Rahul injured during road show in Kanpur
kanpur : Congress MP Rahul Gandhi sprained his wrist while alighting from the helicopter during his election tour in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur town, party sources said.
According to Congress leaders here, the Amethi MP was immediately treated with pain relief spray Tuesday and the sprained right wrist was bandaged.
Rahul was scheduled to reach at the IIT Airstrip here around 3 p.m. but was delayed by nearly two hours. It took more than half-an-hour for him to come out of the airstrip area, which was cordoned off by the security personnel.
Congress leaders here later explained that the delay in coming out was due to the injury. "It took a while for them to treat him and got his wrist bandaged," a party leader claimed.
Rahul will be touring in the Congress-bastion Kanpur Wednesday too. In the afternoon, he is expected to leave for Agra where he would wind up his second lap of the road show in Uttar Pradesh.
The state goes for a seven-phased polls beginning April 7 to May 8.
