BHEL's mother unit records 4.14 bn net profit
Bhopal : The mother unit of state-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) here has clocked a net profit of Rs.4.14 billion for the 2006-07 fiscal, a jump of nearly 75 percent over Rs.2.36 billion recorded in the previous year.
R.K. Singh, executive director of BHEL's Bhopal unit made this announcement while addressing a press conference here Wednesday on completion of the fiscal that ended March 31. While highlighting the achievements of the Bhopal unit he informed that the target for the 2007-08 fiscal has been set at Rs.27.5 billion.
BHEL's Bhopal plant is the company's oldest unit with updated and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.
Singh said the electrical equipment maker's turnover has also increased by 25 percent from Rs.18.4 billion in the previous year to Rs.22.86 billion during the fiscal 2006-07.
He also said a "strategic plan" has been drawn up to ensure further growth of the Bhopal unit and BHEL.
"The plan focuses on capacity and capability enhancement that will leverage the company's efforts in power, supported by industry, transport, transmission, exports and spares and services businesses," he added.
Singh also said BHEL's manufacturing capacity would go up to 10,000 MW per annum by 2007 from the present 6,000 MW. The company plans to invest another Rs.32 billion to increase its production capacity to 15,000 MW per year by 2012.
