Four civilians wounded in Srinagar blast
Srinagar : Four passers-by in Srinagar were injured Tuesday when separatist guerrillas chucked a powerful grenade at a paramilitary vehicle which missed the target and exploded on the road.
Police said guerrillas tossed the grenade at a passing vehicle of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Naid Kadal, a congested locality in the Jammu and Kashmir summer capital.
"The grenade missed the target and exploded on the road, resulting in injuries to four civilians. The injured were taken to hospital," said a police officer here.
He said the police and CRPF searched the area but no one was detained.
In another incident Tuesday morning, a major tragedy was averted on the Srinagar Bandipore road by the timely detection of a pre-planted improvised explosive device (IED) near Watlab village, 65 km from here in north Kashmir. It was later defused.
