Tie-up with NDTV is mutually beneficial: Karan Johar
Mumbai : Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar is to make television serials for NDTV's new entertainment channel, saying it is a "mutually beneficial partnership between two like-minded companies".
"It's a creative tie-up. My production house Dharma Productions moves into television with this. I wanted to venture into television for a while now. NDTV approached me to partner them in various ways. So, here I am," Karan told IANS.
And what does this creative partnership entail?
"I'll basically give them inputs. We're still in the process of deciding what these inputs are. But, yes, Dharma Productions will start producing television software.
"And NDTV will have the first right of refusal. It's basically a mutually beneficial partnership between two like-minded companies."
NDTV is coming out with a mainstream entertainment channel.
"That's where I'll fit in. I've a fantastic rapport with the NDTV team. What started as minor bonding has grown into give-and-take of ideas and inputs! I've the highest regard for Prannoy (Roy). Television is definitely a vital medium."
