Los Angeles : Sarah Michelle Gellar, former "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" star, is reportedly in negotiations to join Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal in "Batman: The Dark Knight".

The film is the new addition to the "Batman Begins" franchise, reports www.hollywood.tv.

An independent filmmaker wrote on an Internet posting: "I had been talking back and forth with one of Gellar's representatives about a role in a new film I start shooting in May.

"They expressed a morsel of interest. Unfortunately, yesterday we were informed that she wouldn't be able to do it because there might be a clash with 'Batman'."
