Los Angeles : Mexican beauty Salma Hayek says she had her share of complexes and problems because she did not fit into parameters of a beautiful girl while she was growing up, reports www.hollywood.tv.

Hayek said: "I have had my struggles. I am five foot, two inches and in Mexico it was important to be tall. I grew up in a world where beauty not only meant being tall, fair complexion and blue eyes were equally important.

"And I'm dark, have brown eyes and brown hair and I'm short. People used to say that the short thing was a deformity. I was really upset about my height."
