A group of friends who had passed out from the same college decided to meet up one day. After exchanging pleasantries, they got talking about the old times. Each of them had special respect for their history professor, Mr Mehra, who was very popular. The group decided to pay a surprise visit to their dearest professor. Mr Mehra was indeed surprised and very happy to meet his students. They soon got busy in conversation. Eventually, conversation turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Mr Mehra listened to the complaints and kept quiet all this while. In the end he got up, went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups-porcelain, plastic, and glass. Some of the cups looked plain and ordinary, and some looked expensive and exquisite. He asked all his guests to help themselves to hot coffee. When all the students had cups of coffee in their hands, Mr Mehra said, "If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, it is also the source of all your problems and stress. What you all really wanted was coffee, not the cup. But you consciously went for the better cups and are continuously eyeing each other's cups."

"Now, if life is coffee, the jobs, money, and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life, but the quality of life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it. So folks, don't let the cups drive you. Enjoy the coffee instead,? said Mr Mehra to his students.
