A novel after school snack for your kids. A delicious and creamy mushroom mixture is filled in burger buns to make a quick snack. The mushroom filling can also be used to make pasta or as a topping on toasted bread for a yummy breakfast.
Preparation Time : 10 mins.
Cooking Time : 4 mins.
Makes 4 buns.
Ingredients
2 burger buns
¼ cup onions, chopped
1 small clove garlic, finely chopped
½ green chilli, finely chopped
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
¾ cup spinach (palak), finely chopped
¼ cup milk
¼ cup cheese, grated
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon butter
salt and pepper to taste
For the topping
2 slices cheese
Method
1. Cut each bun into 2 and scoop out the centre.
2. Soak the scooped bread in milk and keep aside.
3. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the butter, onions, garlic and green chilli and microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds.
4. Add the mushrooms and microwave on HIGH for 2 minutes stirring once in between.
5. Add the spinach, milk, cheese, soaked bread, oregano, salt and pepper and microwave on HIGH for another minute.
6. Fill in the scooped bread cavity with the above mixture, top with cheese and microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds.
7. Serve immediately
