Ingredients
2 pounds Chepalu (Cat fish)
1tsp Mustard seeds
1tsp Cumin seeds
2 stalk Curry leaves
2 Chopped Onion
1 Chopped Tomato
3 Slit Green chillies
2 tbs Red chili powder
1 tsp Turmeric
1 tbs Coriander powder
1/4tsp Fenugreek powder
3 or 4 tbs Oil
4tbs Thick tamarind pulp
2 cup Water
Salt to taste
Directions
1. Clean and slice fish into desired pieces.
2. Heat oil in big flat vessel and put mustard and cumin seeds. When they start spluttering, add curry leaves, onions and fry till onions become soft. Put tomatoes and sauté well till oil separates. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, fenugreek powder and salt to taste. Sauté well for few seconds and add tamarind pulp and water.
3. Check seasoning and add fish pieces. Cook in medium heat till fish pieces are soft and the gravy thickens.
