•Playa's are vegetables cooked, steamed or boiled mildly retaining their original colour and flavour.
•Serves 4
Ingredients
•1/2 cup Soaked Bengal Gram (Chana Dal)
•2-3 Red Chillies
•1tsp Coriander powder
•1tsp Cumin (jeera) powder
•2 pinch Asafeotida
•Salt to taste
•Vegetables (like, okra, bell pepper, methi, gawar (chaulikai))
•Oil
•Mustard
•a pinch Turmeric powder
Directions
1.Coarsely grind the soaked bengal gram dal and red chillies with coriander powder, cumin powder, a pinch of as afeotida and salt. Add very little water if necessary.
2.Heat oil and season mustards. Add turmeric and as afeotida. Add any of the above mentioned vegetable and sauté them. Do not add water. Allow it to get tender and well cooked. To this add ground chana dal paste. Mix it well and keep of slow fire for 5 minutes. Serve hot with Chapattis.
