Serves 6-8
Ingredients
Fish - 2kg
Mustard oil - 2cups
Red chilli powder - 1tbs
Ginger powder - 2tsp
Turmeric - 1tsp
Aniseed powder - 1tsp
Cloves - 3
Asafoetida - a pinch
Garam masala - 1tbs
Cumin seeds - 1tsp
Salt - to taste
Directions
1. Clean and scrape out the fish nicely. Cut each fish into 3 pieces.
2. Fry the fish pieces in oil till golden brown. Keep aside.
3. Take a vessel and pour 1litre water, all the ingredients except garam masala and the oil left after frying the fish. Stir well and bring to a boil. Add fried fish pieces and cook on medium heat till the gravy thickens and oil separates. Sprinkle garam masala. Stir well and remove from fire. Serve with rice.
