Tips for removing smells

To avoid the mouldy smell in your breadbox, wash your breadbox once a week with a piece of cotton wool dipped in vinegar. |

If Bottles are Smelly-- Fill bottle half-full of water and add 1 tablespoon of mustard or baking soda. Shake well and allow to stand for about 1 hour. |

If Pots and Pans are Smelly-- Wash them in salt water or in hot soapy water plus a dash of ammonia. |

If your Microwave Oven is Smelly-- Chop half a lemon into 4 pieces. Put them in a small bowl with 1 cup of water and a few whole cloves. Boil for 5 minutes. |

If Dishes or Plates are Smelly-- Wash them in salty water, or use a little ammonia in hot soapy water. You can also add a little ground mustard to the water. |

If Your Hands are Smelly-- If you have a lingering onion smell on your hands, trying rinsing them with cold water, rubbing them with salt, and then rewashing them. You can also rubbing your hands with half of a potato. |

If Garbage Disposal is Smelly-- Grind up half a lemon, orange or grapefruit in it. Never throw lemon rinds out, keep them in quarters in a plastic bag in your freezer. Throw a lemon rind quarter down the disposal whenever it starts to smell funny. |

If Grater is Smelly-- Rub a hard crust of bread over it. |

Yucky odors will disappear from plastic containers and thermoses overnight if you pack them with newspaper and put the lid on tightly. |

Clean and deodorize Cutting Board by sprinkling salt on the cutting board and then rubbing it with a wedge of lemon or lime. This method can also be used on wooden bowls or rolling pin. |

To Clean Drinking Straws, put several together and secure them to a dinner knife with a rubber band, then wash in the dishwasher. They'll come out clean and can be reused many times. |

To Clean a Thermos Bottle or eliminate the odors and stains, fill with hot water and drop in a denture cleaning tablet, and allow to stand overnight. Baking soda will also work but not as well. |

To prevent Milk from sticking to the pot when heating it, right before you put milk in the pot, rinse the pot with cold water. |
