उसी के गम ने, इस दीवाने को, शायर बना दिया
मेहरबानियों का - मैं - जहान की, अब क्या हिसाब दूं
एक अच्छे भले इन्सान को, पत्थर बना दिया
जमाने के लिये, थे जान पे भी, खेल गये
जो उन्हीं की कब्र पे, लोगों ने, बादाघर दिया
चमन सपनों का, फरिश्तों ने जो, कुदरत को बख्शा था
चंद मगरूरों ने, उस चमन को, मुर्दाघर बना दिया
क्या खाक अपने काम आयेगा वो रहनुमा
जिसे दौलत ने अरमानों का सौदागर बना दिया
खुदा के वास्ते उस बज्म [मेहफिल] का न्यौता न दो मुझको
जिसे लोगों ने अपनी हवस का दफ्तर बना दिया
